Hermit crabs may seem easy, but they’re just as important of a pet as a dog or a cat. They can live up to 10 years if cared for properly. Here are some tips for owning your hermit crab.

Hermit crabs typically eat pellet food that is supplemented with fruits and vegetables. Because they don’t have any external protection, shells are very important. Keep 3-5 shells available for them to move and grow into. The terrarium temperature should be 75-85 degrees during the day and 65-75 degrees at night. If you want to own more than one, leave 5 gallons of space in the tank for every two crabs you own.
